I've taught recreational gymnastics for over 10 years and while I was in graduate school I started to teach dance cardio. I found that exercise was extremely helpful for me in managing the stress I dealt with at work and in school. When they needed a yoga instructor at the gym I learned how helpful deep breathing and those poses can be in managing stress, overcoming fears, and even healing from traumas. At LA Fitness I taught almost every class and each has different benefits for mind and body. I have a holistic and integrative approach to health and provide education. I have provided services with Life Balance Fitness as an exercise therapist at Stillpoint Therapy and am also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
I realized it is important to our health and spirits to balance work, take care of ourselves, and have time for recreation. I've taught both 2 year olds and people in their 30s-40s how to do a cartwheel for the first time. On the other hand, I've worked with elderly and injured clients teaching Aquafit and chair yoga. I love old classic movies like those with Esther Williams and I love the circus. I've enjoyed soccer and cross country and was competitive back in highschool. I still enjoy recreational sports and being creative with my workouts as well as dancing and doing some acrobatics.
I enjoy working with people at any level of fitness to meet their goals for stability, strength, balance, power, agility, mental clarity, weight management, and athletic or artistic performance. I research the crossover between psychology and fitness and use that for the benefit of my clients. I also consult with my clients on cooking and nutrition for optimum health and performance.
